Mothing: Discover the Forest at Night with Jessee Smith and Sarah Kent

Whether you are new to insects or already fascinated by the natural world, this nighttime program offers a unique chance to explore the world of moths and other nocturnal species. Step into the forest after dark and experience the diversity that emerges once the sun goes down.

Join Jessee Smith and Sarah Kent at the Kirby Nature Center as we set up blacklight stations to attract moths and other nighttime insects. As they gather on illuminated sheets, you will have the opportunity to observe them up close and learn about their role in local ecosystems. Participants are encouraged to bring a red light or UV flashlight (we have extras).
