Discover the joys of birdwatching with Birding 101: At Home and Afield, a two-part introductory program designed for beginners, and anyone interested in learning more about the birds around us.

Session 1 – Birding From Home (February 7)
Learn about the common birds found in and around your neighborhood, plus the basics of binoculars, field guides, and how to get started. This session will be held indoors at the Kirby Nature Center.

Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars if they have them. A limited number of loaner binoculars will be available. Please wear sturdy shoes for outdoor exploration and bring water.

The program will be developed and led by Kathi Hutton, an experienced birder and Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN). Kathy McDonald, an OCVN with the Midwest Native Plant Society, will provide insights into the vital connection between native plants and bird habitat.

CEUs are available for OCVNs attending each session. If your organization offers educational credit, please contact them for details and let us know. Additional event information will be emailed a few days prior.
